Government Employees In Ohio:

STUCK PAYING DUES TO A UNION YOU DON’T WANT TO SUPPORT?

YOU CAN QUIT.

Plus, if you joined your union without being informed of your right not to join, you should also be able to stop paying dues immediately and get back the dues you’ve already paid.

KNOW YOUR RIGHTS.

If you work for a local or state government entity—such as public school district, city hall, or a state agency—you have the right to decide whether you want to join a union at your workplace. A 2018 Supreme Court ruling said you have the right to choose whether to join a union and pay dues.

We may be able to help if:

  • You want to quit your union—or you already quit but are still being forced to pay dues;

  • No one informed you of your right not to join and pay before you signed up; and

  • You joined your union after June 27, 2018.
